![]() Our Review of BFG GeForce 7950 GT To purchase BFG GeForce 7950 GT, click here. The BFG GeForce 7950 GT is a great video card in terms of price and performance. This PCIexpress video card by BFG Tech is killer for techies because it comes over-clocked straight out of the box. 550 MHz might not be a lot but it is a nice boost in speed from the regular GeForce 7950 GT. For newbies, overclocking refers to the practice of running your CPU past its rated speed. Video cards are sold and/or guaranteed at a certain minimum clockspeed. The card may be able to perform at higher speeds, but these are not tested and rarely guaranteed. BFG Tech does the overclocking for you AND comes with a lifetime warranty - so you can get BETTER performance without worrying about the card breaking down! The card is a NVIDIA 7900 series video card, manufactured by BFG Tech and first released in September of 2006. Although it has been almost a year since its release, it still performs competitively with current offerings in its price range. In January 2007, I purchased the card for $200 - and since then, the price has gone as low as $155. In general, BFG Tech has quality products and customer service, and has a lifetime warranty on its products that only 2 other video card manufacturers offer. ![]() The prices on this graph are a little old and all the 7300, 7600, 7900 series GeForce cards have significantly come down in price. Instead of going for the lower-end GeForce 7900GS and 7900GT, consumers are better off going for the 7950GT, as the extra vertical and pixel pipes and better clock speed are really worth the extra dollars. In comparison to the higher-end GeForce 7900GTX, you can see that this card has all the same specifications except for a 100MHz shortfall in the Core Clockspeed. This 100 MHz difference is not worth the extra $100 for the 7900GTX. It has been 7 months since I purchased this card and it still runs strong. As an avid gamer, I've tested the card out on World of Warcraft, S.T.A.L.K.E.R., Supreme Commander and other high-performance games. All of these run smoothly with every setting on high, with 1680x1050 resolution. It's a robust card - I can run any of these games with no graphical issues, while running 2 LCD displays! ![]() - Norman, Resident Tech Reviewer BFG GeForce 7950 GT Product Specifications
